The 2022 Beauty Envision Awards are upon us, and to say we’re excited about this year’s competition would be a *massive* understatement. As the world around us continues to change and adapt, so does our beloved industry—and as a result—so do we.
For us, #BEA is more than just a competition, it’s an opportunity for artists to showcase their talent and bring their unique vision of otherworldly beauty to life. So what’s in store for #BEA2022? We’re so glad you asked.
We asked Wella Company’s Senior Manager of Portfolio Education and Community, Christina McCarver (@chistinamccarver) for the deets on this year’s competition, here’s what she had to say.

Why did the Wella team decide to narrow down the competition categories this year?

CM: In an effort to streamline the competition, we have decided to reduce the number of categories to make entering easier than ever!
If you could describe this year’s inspiration in one word, what would it be?
CM: To sum it up into one word I would say SKILL! Skill encompasses so much and goes beyond technical abilities. It expands into the creative eye, the overall composition of a photo, the selection of wardrobe, makeup and a model…the overall look.
What is included in the ideal entry in order to advance in the competition?
CM: The ideal entry is well balanced and well executed. The vision of the artist is clear and everything harmoniously comes together to create a piece of art.
Where would you recommend people to draw inspiration from for their entry?
Seek inspiration from what makes you happy

CM: This is a great question because as creative people, hair and nail artists can find inspiration just about anywhere. I would recommend finding inspiration within yourself. Let your story radiate through your entry. What colors do you love, what music do you like, what movies do you watch. Seek inspiration from what makes you happy. Tell your story.
