CREATIVE HAIR WINNER 2019: NICO NORRIS

In less than five years, Nico Norris (@hairgasmsbynico) has become a salon pro 💇‍♀️ and already taken home TWO Beauty Envision Awards trophies. 🏆🏆

How? Norris started her career by testing her skills on family and friends – as many of us do. She then pursued an apprenticeship, continued her education, and quickly earned big industry opps, likes assisting at New York Fashion Week. Long story short – this hairdresser never 👏 stops 👏 moving. 👏

Her 2019 entry titled “Metal Head” featured multi-length chain links connecting extensions to her model’s base. A sharp bang gave the look an extra punch. The entry won her a spot at the final round of the competition in Hollywood, plus, earned her the 2019 People’s Choice Award.

While in Hollywood, finalists were mentored by industry pros, like celeb stylist & salon owner Marylle Koken (@kokentheharlot). Under her wing, Norris’ created a bold, braided ensemble featuring creative plaits, laid edges, and a bantu knot mohawk. Her eccentric and experimental creation crushed the competition, earning her the title of 2019 Creative Hair winner.

“Winning meant overcoming my own self-doubt and turning my dreams into reality. Being recognized for my work and invited back to create more has been life-changing,” says Norris.
